Participation is considered as an effective technique for resistance to change as it promotes commitment to workplace change. Engaging them in various activities makes them aware of what is going to happen which indeed help them become less resiatant to change. Employee participation through activities such as steering commitee can create a sesnse of ownership and responsibility to carry out the change process effectively.
The other three tactics that are useful to reduce resistance to change are :
a. Proper education and communication : Educating the people and communicating to them the potential benefits the change will bring can reduce resistance to change. by properly explaing why the people need change and how it will be helpful can not only minimize resistance to change but also provide the required support from the people.
b. Agreement and negotiation : By making agreements in various aspects of the change will reduce the concerns of the employees and help in smooth implementation of the change process.
c. Manupulation : Manupulation refers to hiding painful information and fabricating them in such a way which makes it more appealing to the emoloyees to make them accept the change in a better way.
