Explanation / Answer

Answer:- In the current environment wherein the decisions are made in the global context, one of the most important initial points can be by having the awareness. It is important for the decision makers to have the better understanding of culture and the manner it can affect the problem identified by the individual. This will also influence its significance and the preference given to solve it.

If a decision maker has more information related to the cultural values, communication pattern and the traditions of the individuals with who he or she is involved in decision making, the decision maker will be in better position to have the understanding of their concerns and avoidance of inaccurate judgment of their actions.

Answer:-Cognitive dissonance can be defined as the state in which a person is inconsistent about the thoughts, attitudes or beliefs particularly related to the behavioral decisions and change in attitude. This kind of state results in the discomfort which can lead to a change in the attitudes, beliefs or behaviors to reduce the discomfort and restore balance etc.

In order to deal with Cognitive dissonance, we can have the steps mentioned below:-

Change in beliefs:- This is the most important method of dealing with Cognitive dissonance. The person should change his or her belief after making a decision.

Change Action:- The second alternative could be to ensure that the actions are not repeated again

Change perception of action:- his can seem as the third and most difficult method of resolution in which attempts are made to change the way one view/remember/perceive an action

Example:- Recently in the performance appraisal process of my subordinates, I gave a positive rating to one of the employees as I have a good interpersonal relationship with them. But his performance was not up to mark and it created a kind of bad feeling in me that I am not fulfilling the job of a good manager and I am biased for this person. In order to resolve this issue and no to repeat in future, I made a commitment that now I will differentiate the professional decisions and personal relationship so that I can be a more fair manager.
