Nourishes articular cartilage and provides jint lubrication Helps to form intracapsular ligaments Nourishes osteoblasts that form the joint capsule It is the ground substance of fibrocartilage

Explanation / Answer

Answer 13:

The shoulder and hip joints are best described as Ball and Socket joint, Rotation and Diarthrosis.

Hip joint--The round head of Femur (ball) fits into cup like acetabulum(socket) of the pelvis, the ball of femur 'rotates' in pelvic bone socket around single long axis, this joint is synovial joint (diarthrosis) which is a multiaxial joint which has got movement in all three anatomical planes.

Shoulder joint--The round head of Humerus(ball) fits into cup like glenoid fossa(socket) of shoulder blade, the ball of Humerus 'rotates' in socket of shoulder blade, this joint is synovial joint(Diarthrosis).

Answer 14:

The function of synovial fluid is to nourish articular cartilage and provides joint lubrication. Synovial fluid is made up of hyaluronic acid, lubricin, proteinase and collagenase. Hence it provides nourishment to articular cartilage and lubrication to bone joints.
