Bone classification according to shape:
1.long bone- they are characterized by two rounded head on each side, a shaft in middle, diaphysis and epiphysis. Eg- femur
2. Short bone- they are cube like in shape. Eg- carpals, tarsals
3. Flat bone- they are thin and curved. Eg- sternum
4. Sesamoid bone- they are round and small. They are embedded in the tendon. Eg- patella and pisiform
5. Irregular bone- these bones do not fit under any of the above categories. There shapes are irregular abd complex. Eg- vertebra, ethmoid bone.
