Question
1.Some types of blood pressure medication works by blocking the effects of aldosterone on the kidneys. What effect would these drugs have on the sodium ion concentration in the blood and how would this effect blood pressure?
2. A new medication increases the production of growth hormone releasing hormone (GHRH). What effects would this have on the secretion of growth hormone (GH)? Would you expect these effects to differ in a child versus an adult?
3. Hormone X regulates the blood concentration of chemical Z via a negative feedback loop. What should happen to the level of secretion of hormone X when the blood concentration of chemical Z decreases?
Explanation / Answer
Normally adosterone causes retention of sodium alongwith water and secretion of potassium. If the medication block adosterone then there is loss of sodium along with water that leads to decrease in blood volume and thus decrease in blood pressure
2.GHRH causes increase in growth hormone the medication that increase GHRH also lead to increase in growth hormone secretion. Its act differ in a child verses adult.
3if hormone x regulate blood concentration of chemical z by negative feedback loop .when blood concentration of chemical z decrease then there is increase secretion of hormones x.
