Question
I need all the three answers as soon as possible 1)How is apparent density different than regular density measurements? What is the difference in apparent density between cancellous and cortical bone (a range of values is acceptable)? 2)From a loading standpoint, why do long bones have abnormal cross-sectional profiles in certain areas? 3 what would happen to the cross-sectional profile of an adult human long bone if that person were to be placed on long-term bed-rest? Sketch the new cross section.Explanation / Answer
2.Cortical bone is also known as a compact bone.cortical bone forms the outer shell of most of the bones. It is more denser than cancellous bones, more harde, more stronger and more stiffer.Cortical bones contributes to 80% 0f the weight of human skelton.Cancellous bone is also called spongy bone .Compare to the cortical bone it is less dense, soft, weak and less stiff than the cortical bone.
3.The examples of long bones are femur, radius and finger bones.Long bones have irregular cross section to perform special functions in the human body.
4.Prongled immobility is harmful with rapid reduction in bone mineral density, muscle mass and impairment in other body system.all It reduces the density because they aren't performing the normal weigh bearing function.the bones in the leg are most affected.THE bones which are thinner increase the risk of fracture.
