Question

A man is pulled from the wreckage of his house after it is destroyed by a tornado, and he has suffered a traumatic head injury. A large splinter of wood has pierced his skull and brain. With prompt emergency medical attention he survives, but irreversible damage to his brain has occurred. After his recovery he is generally healthy, with normal respiratory rate and blood pressure. He is able to move all of his limbs and maintain his balance, and can speak, hear, and write as before. One eye was damaged during the tornado, but vision in the other eye is normal. The principal difference compared to before the injury is his behavior. Previously he was a calm, friendly person, who went to church regularly and doted on his wife and children. After the injury he became prone to frequent bouts of anger, swears in extremely inappropriate settings, and seems to not care when his behavior is highly offensive to others.
