speed up the healing process

Explanation / Answer

Answer:- protect the surgical site from trauma during eating and drinking

Explanation:- The purpose of periodontal dressing (perio pak) is to minimize postoperative pain, infection, bleeding and protect the surgical site from trauma during eating and drinking during the healing process.

22 What type of instrument removes calculus uses high frequency vibration and sprays water to keep the instrument cool?

Answer:- An ultrasonic scalar

Explanation:- Calculus is always covered with plaque and contribute to periodontal disease. An ultrasonic scaler used for the rapid calculus removal with high frequency vibration and sprays water to keep the instrument cool.

32 Advanced stage periodontitis might include which treatment_____

Explanation:- Root planing treatment is performed using a cuvette to remove necrotic cementum or surface dentin that with calculus or contaminated with toxins or microorganisms.

52 Which instrument is calibrated in millimeters and measures the depth of periodontal pockets?

Answer:- Periodontal probe

Explanation:- A periodontal probe is inserted into v-shaped space between the free gingiva and the tooth surface known as gingival sulcus to assess its health.

62 A healthy sulcus depth is___

Answer:- 1-3 millimeters

If the probing depth of sulcus is greater than 3 mm, indicates a pseudo pocket, gingivitis or periodontal disease.

72 A properly place periodontal dressing will____

Answer:- Be locked interproximally, follow the height of contour, extend one tooth beyond the surgery site

Explanation:-

A properly placed periodontal dressing will be locked interproximally, follow the height of contour, extend one tooth beyond the surgery sites that it will cover all of the surgical wound and interdental areas.

82 Which homecare instruction would not be indicated for periodontal surgery and periodontal dressing?

Answer:- Rinse vigorously once per day with Listerine.

It is advised not to rinse vigorously for few days afterperiodontal surgery and periodontal dressing, it might bleeding.

92 Which surgical device promotes rapid healing, less post-operative complications and minimal trauma and bleeding?

Answer:- lasers

Explanation:- lasers generates beam of light energy with greater

accuracy during treatment procedures, thus minimizing damage to adjacent tissue thus promotes rapid healing, less post-operative complications and minimal trauma and bleeding.

102 Gingivitis may be easily reversed if the patient______

Answer:- Improves oral hygiene and controls plaque by flossing and brushing frequently, and has a regular prophylaxis

Local factors contributing periodontal disease include Calculus, Iatrogenic factors ( open margins, overhanging margins, open contacts) anatomical features ( crowding, tipping, root proximity and furcation involvement) and trauma. Systematic factors include endocrine conditions such as diabetes and hormonal changes, liver disorders, neutrophil disorders, smoking, medications, nutrition, stress, heredity, and obesity. Difference between local and systemic factors that contribute to periodontal disease is that only local factors can be controlled by a patient and a dentist .

Answer:- Periodontal disease are characterised by inflammation of the supporting tissues of the teeth.During advanced periodontal disease there is Severe destruction of tissue and bone; leading to tooth loss and require surgery that include tooth extractions and a gingivectomy. Gingivectomy is the surgical removal of diseased gingival tissue that forms the periodontal pocket.I will influence and motivate the patient to follow through this treatment by two ways. First by explaining how this periodontal diseases cause bleeding gums , inflamed gingiva, loss of teeth, Periodontal pocket , abnormal contour, Pain and tenderness.Second I will motivate him for surgery as it can reduce all the adverse effects , promotes the healing process so it will easier for the patient to go for surgery.
