Question
11:39 Week 3: Cellular Level of Organiz... 5 points maximum score A laboratory produces an RNA molecule in vitro by copying the information from the sense strand of natural DNA. The resulting RNA was used to synthesize a protein that was nonfunctional. Why do you think that the enzyme did not work? What did the laboratory do wrong? Ans
Sense strand of DNA is the strand which has the same sequence as the mRNA.
It takes the antisense strand of DNA which is used for transcription.
In this case RNA is synthesized from the sense strand of DNA thus the protein formed from the RNA is non functional. Hence the enzyme coded by this protein is also non functional. So enzyme doesn't work in this case.
In the laboratory we have taken the sense strand of DNA. this is mistake done.
To rectify this we have to choose anti sense strand of DNA to produce a functional enzyme.
