Organisations outsource business processes because some of the task related to business cannot be performed by the business itself because of lack of expertise, so when we outsource a specific business process to the specialist service provider, the responsibility of undertaking the task is now that of service provider. Outsourcing also saves time and cost of organisation, especially if the task is needed to be performed only for certain time.
Advantages of outsourcing
The task would be performed efficiently and effectively because of expertise gained by the vendor over a period of time.
The organisation can focus on more important task of the project by Outsourcing certain task which can be done by the vendor at low cost and less time.
Recruitment cost is reduced in case of hiring the employee in order to perform the task that can be outsourced.
As the responsibility of the task assigned is taken by the vendors, hence vendor also shares accountability and risk associated with the task.
Disadvantages of outsourcing.
Organisations may have to share confidential details with the vendor while outsourcing. For example when an organisation outsources its HR operations, organisations may have to share some critical and confidential details.
