In a role-playing scenario, a client is seeking help for persistent headaches and problems sleeping.
The client believes that stress may be part of the problem with her symptoms. The client is female with headaches that occur three to four times a week and some lasting all day. Ibuprophen helps, but the headaches are not just on days of extreme stress. She is single at the age of twenty-nine and is a part-time employee which she hopes will manifest into full-time employment. It is also hard for her to sleep so much so she has a prescription for sleeping medication.
To this scenario, how could i Identify steps to take to limit the impact of one's own beliefs on an interview with this client. Be as specific as possible.
Explanation / Answer
The reason for persistent headaches might be , due to :
a) Inflammation of the blood vessels .
b) Pressure such as Intracranial is likely to develop. It might be too low or high .
c) Infections such as meningitis can also occur.
d) Brain tumor .
Despite taking Ibuprophen , which helps in healing of inflammation , fever and pain . There is still something which triggers the headache . It might be due to other factors.
As a doctor , one should recommend her to go for a brain CT scan. As this will help to know the underlying problem.
