In a role-playing scenario, a client is seeking help for persistent headaches and problems sleeping.
The client believes that stress may be part of the problem with her symptoms. The client is female with headaches that occur three to four times a week and some lasting all day. Ibuprophen helps, but the headaches are not just on days of extreme stress. She is single at the age of twenty-nine and is a part-time employee which she hopes will manifest into full-time employment. It is also hard for her to sleep so much so she has a prescription for sleeping medication. To this scenario, what are some "gut reaction” to hearing about a patient with chronic headaches and problems sleeping? sympathetic, unsympathetic, or some mixture of both and explain how these could affect an interview with this client, and do you think that one's beliefs are influenced by their age, cultural, gender, sexual orientation, or ethnicity?

An individual is made up lots of factors such as the individual's physical, social and intellectual etc. In this case, the woman is single when she should have been in a relationship and she is working part time where she should have been already established herself. So, the economic insecurity and lack of human touch together, makes her stressed out and she undergoes sleepless episodes and headaches. I do believe that one's life is influenced by one's race, religion, age, culture, gender, sexual orientation and ethnicity. Some times, the client's physical illness will also land them in mental pressure. So it's very important to understand the clients background in order to help them and bring them out of their hardships.
