Dr. Davis' theory of cognitive dissonance mean the struggle an individual is having, trying to make sense of their conflicting belief, values and norms. They are fighting with who they are, its like having an angel and devil on your shoulder, one is saying one thing and the other is saying another. Theory of Cognitive Dissonance “People also are believed to experience such mental dissonance if they hold two beliefs which are at odds with each other ” (Davis, 2016, p. 39). Which I agree we see this happening all over, the only reason why we see it happening now is because the rise of social media (technology) people record everything . For instance, we see black men and women be killed for a simple traffic stop, selling a pack of cigarets, walking down the street with a hoodie, coming home from school, going to the store to buy groceries. The way cops would justify the killing is by saying “I saw his hands move to grab something, or he had his hand where I couldn’t see it and I saw an object." responds to this

Cognitive dissonance
It is a kind of mental suffering. It usually takes place when the person generally holds two or more conflicting beliefs/ ideas at a time. This creates a problem in decision making.
Referring to cognitive dissonance , People smoking at the same time also knows that it is injurious to health , thereby causing cancer. Still they prefer to have cigarettes.
As stated above , the problem the blacks generally faced. In our society , blacks are discriminated and this has shaped the minds of people. This has been publicized more by the social media. It is a form of racial discrimination. It was assumed to be , the blacks to be inferior .
