Explanation / Answer

Two doctor demeanour that I demonstrate in my personal, professional and community life is perseverance and cogency. I understand that great work are not performed by hard work alone, but with preservance..It is important to keep following your dream inspite of the hurdles along the way. The determination to reach where one aspires to be should never cease with time, rather burn in passion along the way. Research requires preservance and determination to seek insight into a subject Second , would be cogency. There should be logic, lucidity and clarity in the words of a researcher. No matter how knowledgeable one is, but if one cannot articulate the ideas and findings in a simplest of ways so that a layman understand and values the work, the work itself will become worthless. For a researcher, cogency is important. My published work in journals is reflective of my ability to articulate the ideas well into linguistics. Also, I have been working as a volunteer for women's right group for two years now. Inspite of the increase in violence against women and no justice being served , I still haven't given up hope. My preservance stands still ; unshaken. Each day I feel more determined to organise workshops and campaigns that aims to end violence against women in America. The behaviour that I believe would maximize my chances for a successful enrolment in the programme is my ability to think analytically. The ability to skillfuly understand and interpret any event to gain an insightful understanding of it, is crucial in any research. I possess this skill and it would act as an catalyst in maximizing my chances to be enrolled for a doctoral programme. I believe that at a doctoral level, one cannot expect to be spoon-fed about the concepts and ideas. One has to make an effort to learn and unlearn the theories and practices, all by themselves to create an influential work. Thus, I expect to gain knowledge under the academic shadow of my classmates and faculty through discussions, debates and assignments. However, I do not expect spoon feeding of knowledge , as stated above. I believe, my classmates and faculty expect me to contribute to the academic learning of each, through an active participation in class discussions, conferences and debates. Finally, the change that I need to make to move from passive thinking to an engaged mode of thinking is application of the ideas and theories into practice. The research methodology that I would seek to apply for gathering and analysing the data, would help me create a more engaging dialogue between my ideas and practice.
