Giving Your Comment for following information One of the few traits that I can identify with is Repression and Displacement. One of ways that I can identify with both of those is that in life many people tend to not talk about things that have happened to them and keep it within them selfs and after enough things build up that they will eventually snap and take there anger and suppressed feelings on someone who most the time not necessarily all due to what the person actually said. A recent example of this happening in my life is that I had a lot of things going on recently due to a concussion, because of this I have been super frustrated and he mad a comment to me at one point and l got very upset and yelled at him because I am the type of person that tends to keep there feeling to them self and after he made the commentI then realized what I had been doing.

In my view, displacement as a defence mechanism has more to do with expressing your aggression to a source that appears less threatening to you. For example, you may not able to retaliate against your boss for scolding you, even though you maybe experiencing a lot of anger at that moment. In displacement, the source of aggression changes to someone who is less threatening, like your partner. Displacement and suppression, although interrelated are wholly different processes. One does not engage in displaying merely due to an inability to express one’s emotions, it is also quite strategic as one tries to find an appropriate source to whom one’s aggression can be directed.
