Using the utilitarian perspective of ethics, I would support Mr. Big. This is because the consequences that have resulted from his act maxises good for others to a far greater degree than what could have been the outcome for Mrs. Little’s action. Mr. Big saved a businessman perhaps because of his own interests, but this act saves the life of one man, which ensured that several others retained their means of livelihood. Mr. Big did all this at the risk of his own life. On the other hand, Mrs. Little contributed money to support others in a charity, an act which doesn’t have as powerful as a consequence.
