The mental health professionals have started thinking about yoga as an alternative option for improvement of mental health from the last two decades. Various research studies proved that yoga practice can enhance cognitive functioning, reduce stress, regulation of emotions, improved mood, physical flexibility, improved neuromuscular performance and increased aerobic capacity. The three advantages of practicing yoga are, it is free of side effects, can be practiced at home and is also a cost-effective approach. Specific yoga practices are beneficial for particular health problems. For example, decreasing negative rumination in the treatment of anxiety and depression.
