Explanation / Answer
In the article the different types of employment biases have been identified :
- companies may discriminate on the basis of gender, colour, race orsome or the other weird reasons like the example of white pumps given in the article. One of the major reasons for not getting hired is being a women. Many a times, companies are reluctant to hire females since for example in technology, people perceive that women do not only apply for jobs.
Not only do such biases affect a work place , but these biases keep leaving hints for the society that people might try to claim of equality and that men or women or people for various races get the same opportunities in every field, but that actually isn't the case. The existence of such biases prove that unless there is complete removal of such differences, the society can never actually achieve complete equality.
Defend the value of cultural competence in the workforce.
Workplace diversity is where people in an organisation or a team would be is different gender, age, ethnic groups, cognitive style, tenure, background, education etc.
- Since an organisation is able to incorporate such diverse individuals, it shows that the people and the organisation is highly adaptive
- have broader service ranges being able to provide service to people globally,
- Better ideas- since more the people communicate and develop understanding, there would be more number of viewpoints towards one particular issue and solve it more efficiently.
- every employee would be able to perform at its highest. This would lead to better execution of plans .
