Explanation / Answer

(1)What awareness did you gain by learning about the different religions and holidays? How is considering all religions and holidays something that can be implemented in the workplace, please explain?

In stead of just enjoying the holidays as a leisure and free day, if one tries to know the purpose of the holiday, they would get a knowledge of what emotions are involved in that particular holiday and why is it celebrated. And rather than keeping a full holiday, if at workplace every individual of the particular religion comes up and shares about their thoughts and and how they celebrate at their homes, would help in exchange of cultures.

(2) Did you find yourself having any predispositions about any of the religions/holidays you reviewed and are those biases taken into the workplace when dealing with people who have different beliefs, please explain?

No, I haven’t had any predispositions about any religion which is biased, since I’ve always been brought up in a society where there have been many religions living together and celebrating these religious festivals. We’ve been invited at the houses of our neighbors and so have we invited them at our place. Hence, I’ve never felt bias against any religion and neither have those biases been carried forward at the workplace.

(3) Once you have gained knowledge of someone’s religious differences or observance to certain holidays, should you treat him/her any differently in the work environment, please explain if this is considered cultural competence or cultural bias?

No, once learnt about the religion of any person, we are not supposed to treat them differently. If there are any differences observed, it would be known as cultural bias. This should not occur, as it is not correct to treat any person differently at work place or any other place, just on the basis of their religion.
