2. This is a correlational study as the intention is to describe the nature and extent of relation between the two variables, that is, self esteem and science learning.

3. Null hypothesis: There exists no relationship between self esteem and academic achievement in science among middle school students.

4. Alternative hypothesis: There exists a positive and significant relationship between self esteem and academic achievement in science among middle school students.
