Explanation / Answer
1. Respecting people has only positive consequences. Respect does not hurt anyone; it only improves people’s impression about you. Respect has immediate effect. You respect people, and they will respect you back no matter who you are.
2. We cannot act respectful only in certain situations. Respect is a value that should be ingrained in us so that we respect people and their opinions at all times.
3. People should constantly strive to be respectful to other people irrespective of their age, gender, and social status. If this value is nurtured at a young age, it becomes a regular pattern in life in a way that we learn to respect not just people’s actions but also their opinions and emotions.
4. Respect needs to be exhibited at all times. A common instance that I come across almost every day is people mistreating waiters at restaurants. I believe every person deserves respect regardless of their occupation or socio-economic position. I have always corrected people when they behaved rudely with waiters, drivers, or salespeople. Very recently, I corrected a friend for his disrespectful behavior toward a young waiter.
5. The value of respect should be treasured with pride. This value has become rare these days with everyone judging others for their actions and opinions. It is important to cultivate this value with a positive mind so that it has a good effect on your life and on people around you.
6. It is important for people to enhance those values that make them better humans. Being respectful not only makes you a respectable person in society, it also helps you grow as a person. You learn to treat people with love and compassion, thus making you a better person from the inside.
