Explanation / Answer
Certain personality types are said to be more sensitive, pessimistic and critical, reducing their ability to bounce back post a crisis that occurs in their life. Such people may tend to wear themselves out during such situations and may prove to be ineffective during the crisis management times. Moreover, people who possess unrealistic expectations and hope for a miracle, without having a reality check of the magnitude of their concern are likely to be in trouble as well. Sociocultural factors and one’s support system tends to play a huge role in determining whether or not one can successfully manage a crisis & come out a winner. This is so because the environment in which we are raised may have either equipped a person to deal with challenges on their own, or made them highly dependent onto others for doing so. In both the cases, for the latter when support is available, is likely to be helpful during times of crisis. The values, belief systems and coping mechanisms that are conditioned to use in a person tend to make an impact on crisis management too.
