Explanation / Answer
7a) In myocardial infarction, the stroke volume is reduced due to the death of myocardial cells (necrosis), which result in impaired in the ventricular myocardial contacting. Stroke volume is the amount of blood ejected from the ventricle during each beat(cardiac cycle).
7b) Cardiac output is the amount of blood ejected from the ventricle per minute. The cardiac output is the product of the heart rate and stroke volume. Total peripheral resistance is the resistance offered on the path of blood circulation. As a result of reduced stroke volume, the cardiac cycle and peripheral resistance automatically reduced.
7c) Beta blockers decreased the oxygen demand due to reduction in heart rate, blood pressure, contractility, and consequently reduction of ischemic chest pain.
8a) Left side heart failure commonly occurs.
8b) and the signs and symptoms includes dysnea, tachypnea, increased body fluids, crackles/rales at bases, diaphorosis, weight gain, fatigue, extra heart sound, mental status changes, and capillary refill >3 second.
