Question
Water and Sodium Balance What does ADH stimulate the nephron cells to do (indicate where it goes, and what its function is)? protein is involved, What effect does ADH have on the volume of urine produced? Explain your answer. What effect does ADH have on the concentration of urine produced? Explain your answ Given these effects of ADH, what are the two stimuli for ADH secretion? Alcohol inhibits the secretion of ADH from the posterior pituitary. Given this, what would the effects of alcohol consumption be on urine volume and concentration? What does aldosterone stimulate the nephron cells to do (indicate exactly what protein involved, where it goes, and what its function is)? Given this effect of aldosterone, explain WHY urine potassium concentration would increase slightly in the presence of aldosterone (alone), but total urine concentration would not change. How would the volume and total concentration of urine change in the presence of BOTH aldosterone and ADH? Explain your answer.Explanation / Answer
ADH causes insertion of aquaporin 2 into luminal side p-cell of collecting tubule that cause increase permeability to water.it is required for production of concerntrated urine.
2.ADH increase conc. Of uribe because it increase permeabilty of collecting duct to water thus increase its absorption .
3.stimuli - increase extracellular osmolarity ,decrease arterial blood pressure, decreased blood volume these are stimuli for ADH secretion.
4.whem alcohol consumption occur there will be decrese in ADH so there is increse in urine volme with decresed osmolarity or conc.
5aldosterone combines with a highly specific cytoplasmic protein mineralocorticoid receptor protein that allow obly aldosterone to combine with it .aldosterone increase renal tubular reabsorption of sodium and secretion of potassium thus simulteneous osmotic reabsorption of water and cause increases extracellular fluid volume.
6.beacuse aldosterone casues renaltubular reabsorption if sodium and secretion of potassium so there will be increase in urine potassium but no change in urine conc. Due to simultaneous reabsorption if sodium.
7.in presence of both adh and aldosterone, normally adh overshadow effect of aldosterobe, there will be inacrese absorption of water so decrese in urine volume and excretion of a concentrated urine
