How does organophosphates cause Wheezing and Rales? Please, and I mean please be incredibly specific. Just telling me acetylcholine(ACh) is built up due to the fact the organophosphates stop acetylcholinase from breaking down ACh is not good enough.

"Stimulation of cholinergic responses, increased exocrine secretions (wheezing and rales)" - is also not specific enough.

Please tell me how organophosphates specifically trigger the wheezing and rales. Step 1 blank, step 2 blank, step 3 blank ...Step etc until youve described the mechanism.. The last 4 attempts to get a precise answer have failed :(

Organophosphates are extremely toxic group of compounds which are rapidly absorbed by routes like oral, dermal and pulmonary and there by it causes wheezing and rales.Some organophosphates are also developed as nerve gases which are very dangerous.

Mechanism:

The organophosphate compound generally phosphorylates and inactivates acetylcholinesterases. Due to this, there is an increase in the accumulation of acetylcholine at nerve endings and it further stimulates skeletal neuro muscular junction, neuro effector junction and autonomic ganglia in the brain and there by it leads to large number of clinical effects.

Due to over stimulation, the block of neuro muscular junction receptors depolarizes and there by causes subsequent paralysis. Post synaptic receptors may downregulate causing late neuromuscular junction failure.

After the formation of initial organophosphate bonds, there is confirmational change in molecular structure which increases binding and sunsequently makes the organophosphate cholinesterase complex irreversibly bound. This is called aging and is highly dependent on type of organophosphate
