1) Affirmative action referes to hiring the group that are underrepresented from various ethnic groups or racial groups. It is a federal regulation to employ people from these groups as a part of maintaining diversified work force. The institutions shpuld use specialised recruitment strategies to hire such people.
example include hiring of specific ethnic group women as a part of campus selection.
EEO(Equal employment opportunity ) on the other hand is providing equal access to a job irrespective of race, caste age, gender, ethnic group, etc,
Diversity is employing people from various different ethnic backgrounds and from different culture, age, capabilities, gender , education backgrounds, skills etc.
Diversity maintains both affirmative action and EEO.
