Pancreas: produce digestive juices that are released into the small intestine, also regulated blood glucose levels by endocrine function (secretion of insulin and glucagon hormones)

Oesophagus: forces food from the throat into the stomach by peristalsis

Stomach: holds the food, and produces strong acids which aid in breaking down food. Also has churning action which turn food into chyme so the body can digest it.

Large intestine: absorb water from the remaining indigestible food matter and responsible for processing waste so that emptying the bowels is easy and convenient.

Small intestine: Most of the digestion and absorption of nutrients takes place in this region.
