Question

Write a 2,000 word (APA Format) assessment of your personality, leadership style and experience to date. You will also create a vision of your future and a road map to achieve it.

A. Assessment of my personality. analyze how your personality, attitudes, values and cognitive style may impact your leader behaviour. Please do not include in-depth assessment results (i.e. “I scored 5 out of a possible 17 on ____”; instead include a summary of the assessments and how the results may impact your leadership (if you disagree with the results, please state your reasons).

B. Assessment of the past.

Personal History: Review your life to date. Identify three key decisions, defining moments, peak experiences and/or major disappointments that shaped who you are today. Briefly discuss how each of the three impacted/changed you.

Leadership History: Outline your leadership history to date (a maximum of three roles – if you do not have workplace leadership experience, please include roles filled in school, the community, volunteer positions, family, etc.). Briefly discuss the type of leadership you demonstrated and the accomplishments in each leadership role, incorporating reasoning/results from the above assessments as appropriate.

C. Assessment from the future. You are about to retire as CEO of the DJIA (Dow 30) listed corporation . Review your career:

In 10-20 year increments, outline 3 of the leadership experiences you might have had along the way (I’m not sure how old you all are, so just make this fun and choose roles you might fill at each age by checking the company’s organizational chart - for example at 30 you might be an analyst, at 45 VP of Supply Chain, etc.). Briefly discuss each period in terms of your positional levels of responsibility, authority and accountability, and the type of leader you “were” on the road to becoming. You may find this a challenging task, but it is a good exercise in creating a better understanding of what might be necessary to get you to each rung of your dream career ladder.

Briefly discuss the personal characteristics/traits, actions/behaviours and competencies/skills, i.e., the qualities, you will use to achieve this future. Do the above personality and history assessments point to anything which will help you achieve these goals? Is there anything you may need to overcome, and how will you go about surmounting these challenges? (Ensure you relate your answers to the personality and history assessments, as well as to details from your textbook, discussions and/or any outside resources you would like to include.)
