You Know that 3,000 Russian missiles are going to be hitting your territory within the hour.DETERRENCE has failed: for some strange reason (perhaps accident, misperception) the Russians have launched the missiles. 95% of the U.S. population will be dead in 24 hrs. Those who survive will in a sense be the unlucky ones. Nuclear winter (look it up) will be created. The radioactive soup in the atmosphere will kill hundreds of millions North of the equator including much of the populations of Europe, and, yes, Russia.

So the question is, why should the U.S. president do anything?. It seems crazy, but what good would it do to kill 10, 100, or 1,2,3 Billion extra people by retaliating?. So that the U.S. can say "we were tough and strong?" Except that there would be no one around to say it. And most non-marine animal species on earth would be dead within 5 years. answer must be more than 300 words.

The discovery of the nuclear missiles is the most dangerous to happen to the mankind. The powerful countries are stacking up with nuclear missiles as if they were trees that give free oxygen and food to people. Not 3000 Russian missiles, even a single missile from them will lead to the end of the world. The nuclear researchers and the scholars who have deep expertise in this subject have already warned that the nuclear war will lead to the death of planet earth. The consequences explained in the question are very much true and the exact same events would happen if there is a nuclear war between Russia and the United States.

The biggest relief is that all the world leaders from different countries are aware of the consequences and they do not want to start something that can kill billions of people within few days. A few nuclear missiles dropped in the US will affect both Russia and the European countries. So even the European superpowers will start the war and get involved to end this war as soon as possible. We can only imagine this happening because this will never happen and even the dumbest of the world leaders would not want his/her people to die a very bad death. The controversial leader like Kim Jong Un from North Korea is also sensible enough to not nuke America. The main problem is the countries wanting to portray themselves as a superpower and trying to gain control over various political aspects. The leader wants to show to the world what they are capable of doing but unfortunately, they do not realize what might happen if they do something specific. Nuking a country might sound very simple but the after effects are very hard to imagine and it will be horrific.

So the president of the United States just needs to make sure that he cares about the people of the country and not get involved in any unnecessary war of words with the leaders from other countries. The need to showcase that he is the most powerful leader in the world can be neglected but he cannot neglect the lives of the people. The entire world knows that the United States is a great country and a global superpower so there is absolutely no need for a president to announce that again and again. The people of the country would appreciate if he dedicates his time building long-lasting relationships with other countries that can help in international trade and strategic business alliances creating new employment opportunities.
