Explanation / Answer
1. The model that describes the plasma membrane is known as fluid mosaic model. It says that membrane is made up of lipids and protein. Lipid exists in two layers known as lipid bilayer with protein embedded in it. The most abundant lipid found in plasma membrane is known as phospholipids. There are two types of proteins found known as peripheral proteins and integral proteins. Proteins embedded in plasma membrane is known as integral proteins whereas proteins present in the periphery of the membrane is known as peripheral proteins. Cholesterol is also the constituent of plasma membrane that contributes in membrane fluidy. Lipid molecule consists of polar head and hydrophobic tail. Polar head groups are in contact with aqueous environment whereas tail are embedded in between.
