Question
Explanation / Answer
The basic necessities of the cell include acquiring nutrients from the extracellular space, utilizing the nutrients and generation of energy for its growth and division.
The cell is basically made of lipid bilayer which assists in the absorption of inorganics like sugars, minerals etc. The lipid bilayer also consists of proteins or channels which assist in taking up other charged molecules like sodium, potassium or chlorine ions either through passive or energy based mechanisms. These ions or molecules has to be converted into energy inside the cell.
The basic organelles a cell needs for all the above activities
1. Nucleus: For the DNA storage and division during mitosis
2. Ribosomes: For the protein translation and production
3. Endoplasmic reticulum: For proper folding of proteins
4. Golgi complex: For protein trafficking to different organelles
5. Mitochondria: For the production of ATP
6. Lysosomes: For degradation of vesicles which proteins or channels or receptors to the cell surface.
