Question
I believe family has may different definitions. My definition of family would be people that you can trust, and people who care about who and would do anything to make sure you are well taken care of and happy. I also believe family does not always have to be blood related. For my family, it is myself, my mother and father, and then my older brother. I also have two sets of grandparents and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. I also include my cat as a part of my family. Then I have what I call my "second family". Which would be my best friends family, I am just as close with them as I am my own family.
After reading the paragraph above, please write down
1.How does your experience compare to this?
2.What kind of families are excluded from this rather narrow definition? Other thoughts?
Explanation / Answer
1.My experience is similar to this.I consider family very important whether its blood related or not.For me,family is all about having emotional connection with people whom you love and who love you. When you can trust people in sharing your joys and sorrows, they become your family. I think those people are lucky who despite having their own blood reltions also have friends who are like their own family. We all need social and emotional support, and to be surrounded by happy and positive people is the only thing that matters to me. 2.Family not included in this could be your working family, when your colleagues are so good and trusting and understanding, they become your family as well.We all spend almost our entire day at our workplaces, and continuously interacting with our co-workers,sharing not only work information but personal information as well. The connection does develop and they all become a part of your workplace family, with whom one could share things that one cant with their own blood related family.
