Cogito ergo sum or I think, therefore, I am coined by French philosopher Rene Descartes is the most famous philosophical argument. Rene Descartes believed it to be the first step in attaining certain knowledge. Tabula rasa theory or the clean state theory is "a supposed condition that empiricists attribute to the human mind before ideas have been imprinted on it by the reaction of the senses to the external world of objects." A new emphasis was put on the tabula rasa by John Locke, and English empiricist in the 17th century. Locke didn't believe the mind to be blank before experience. John Locke was one of the only empiricists to take such a bold stand in his argument.
Explanation / Answer
The statement that John Locke objected to the tabula rasa concept is false. John Locke in his Essay Concerning Human Understanding restated the importance of the experience of the senses over speculation and sets out the case that the human mind at birth is a complete, but receptive, blank slate ( scraped tablet or tabula rasa ) upon which experience imprints knowledge.
