.Appropriate Learning Goals and Objectives
Establishing appropriate learning goals and objectives are an important part of the curriculum planning process. Goals and objectives identify what you want your students to know or be able to do at the end of a lesson or activity.
Learning goals are broad statements and the objectives, which help to narrow the focus, should describe HOW the children will demonstrate that they are developing knowledge in the selected area. By using action verbs that describe specifically what the children should know or be able to do, we can maintain a strong focus. Objectives help to break down the concept into observable tasks.
Appropriate ECE objectives for 3 and 4-year olds for the learning goal students will demonstrate a developing knowledge of letters might include:
Students will make letter-like symbols and shapes.
With assistance from the teacher, students will identify some of the letters in their name.
With assistance from the teacher, students will locate letters in the environment.
Each of these objectives can be measured, which is important in terms of being able to assess learning over a period of time.
To ensure that goals and objectives are DAP we need to consider what is age appropriate, what is individually appropriate, as well as what is culturally and socially appropriate for the learners we are planning curriculum for.
For this week’s assignment you will write learning goals and objectives for your course project. After reviewing your selected curriculum theme, develop three learning goals for your weekly plan. Once the goals are written, develop three learning objectives for each goal.

e to Learning goals for Early childhood curriculum:
1. To foster an increased motivation and interest in learning about basic science and environment: Children at 3-4 years of age are highly curious to know about their world. The primary goal of school education would be to increase their productive curiosity about the way things work in their world according to the principles of science and encourage them to scientifically explore thier own ideas or hypotheses about the nature of things, processes etc.
This goal will be achieved by the following three learning objectives:
1. A.By the end of the week, the student should be able to understand the causal relationship between events such as change in season, day-and night time and rotation of the earth.
1.B. The student would be able to show an increaisng capacity to listen and understand the information being shared by the teacher And discover with the guidance and supervision of the teacher.
1.C. To initiate activities which would allow children to learn independently through exploration such as drawing, building their own craft models of the changes in their environment which they notice during the different seasons in order to grasp the scientific principle operating behind these changes.
2. To increase classroom participation and interaction: The focus of classroom education is towards building effective leanring behaviours where the children can experience and demonstrate an optimal level of self confidence and efficiency in actively learning the planned course.
This goal can be achieved by meeting the following objectives:
2.A. The student will e-book able to complete ‘do yourself’ activities such as colouring or making a scrapbook which gives each child equal opportunity to work on his/her own understanding and unique likes and dislikes using the materials such colours, drawings, use of letters so that s/he feels wholly involved in the class work.
2.B. Encouraging greater communication with other classmates such as colouring together, sharing a meal during recess, sharing a toy on a turn by turn basis etc, to encourage a greater comfort with expressing in the company of peers.
2.C. Encouraging team support in the class such as by giving each child an opportunity to lead the class in group activities. For instance, arranging them in. A queue and asking the person in the front to instruct and organise the movemenst along the corridor during recess and at the end of the last class in order to increase their motivation towards active participation in the classroom.
3. Making the learning a fun experience
A major part of learning programmes with young children is to ensure their sustained interest in the curriculum as children can get easily distracted. This goal can be attained through following objectives:
3.A. Involving the use of toys, storybooks, songs, field visits to the garden, park, or zoo, etc and other everyday objects and situations which are relevant to the subject so that children can see the value of direct instructions of the classroom within their own real life setting.
3.B. The student will be able to decide what he or she wants to learn and what he or she does not understand and wish to be explained in greater detail. This would allow studnets with different potentialities and strengths and weaknesses in their learning styles to learn together in an equalitarian way.
3.C. The student will be able to assess the everyday utility of the course in his/her life and practice the words, or information learned about his/her body, environment, etc with others in order to build communication skills.
