Explanation / Answer

Introduction- The term pornography belongs to sexual activities in front of camera, the pornography is considered as serious legal offence as well as social offence in some countries.

Pornography and Freedom of expression- The freedom of expression is a fundamental right and it enjoyed by every legal citizen of the country, but some people see relationship between pornography and fundamental rights, they believed that the pornography is right of expression because every child have a right to express by physically or verbally.

Fundamental rights are very important for a person to live with dignity and freedom, but these rights also influenced by social, cultural and individual beliefs and if these beliefs opposed by any law, it can be controversial in society.

The pornography may consider the right of expression but on the other hand it violates the dignity of a human, as well as the freedom cannot achieved by overpass other’s rights. If we take pornography as a personal right, we should not forget the personal rights of others and also we cannot forget the cultural, social and traditional beliefs.

Pornography and censorship- Traditionally, liberals defended the freedom of consenting adults to publish and consume pornography in private from moral and religious conservatives who wanted pornography banned for its obscenity, its corrupting impacts on consumers and its corrosive effects on traditional family and religious views. But, in more recent times, the pornography debates has taken on a somewhat new and surprising shape.

Some feminists have found themselves allied with their traditional conservative foes, in calling on the state to regulate or prohibit pornography, although the primary focus of feminist concern is on the harm that pornography may cause to women and children rather than the obscenity of its sexually explicit contents. Some liberals have joined pro-censorship feminist in suggesting that the harms that violent and degrading pornography causes to women’s social standing and opportunities might be sufficiently serious to justify prohibiting such pornography on liberal ground. Many others, both Liberal and Feminists, remains unconceived. They are doubtful that pornography is a significant cause of the oppression of women.

Pornography and social views- According to conservatives, the sexually explicit content of pornography is affront to decent family and religious values and deeply offensive to a significant portion of citizens who holds these values. The consumption of pornography is bad for society and shows the degrading in social values. It undermines and destabilizes the moral fabric of decent and stable society, by encouraging sexual promiscuity, deviant sexual practices and other attitudes and behaviours that threaten traditional families and religious institutions.

According to anti-pornography feminists, the pornography is not a harmless entertainment or cathartic therapeutic fantasy nor is the harm it causes that merely that of offence. Unlike moral conservatives the primary focus of feminist objection to central role against women and children.

Difference between Indecency and Obscenity- The indecency is a morally and sexually offensive behaviour in which a person harms another by physically or psychologically. The indecent behaviour is a serious offense and it harmful for social structure.

Obscenity is an expression, behaviour or appearance that violates the pre-defined social values and standard of sexual morality.

Conclusion- The Pornography is very difficult social term to define in moral and social values, the pornography is not a new idea, it had developed in every ancient civilization and societies, the mean and technologies had changed but the basic value of pornography remained unchanged. The pornography is not good on the behalf of moral values but it is important part of society.
