Answer 1) Social psychology is a branch of psychology which talk about individual behaviour in context with others. In other words it studies human behaviour in relation to social context.
The hypothesis of social psychology is that human behaviour is influenced by other people and the social setting in which it occurs.
Social Psychology studies human behaviour in social situations and therefore studies factors which causes us to behave in a certain way in presence of others and the conditions under which certain feeling, behaviour and thought occurs.
Answer 2) Need to belong can also be rephrased as need for belongingness. It is the need to have continuous, and positive interaction with other people and being acceptable by them. To feel the part of a in-group. It is identified to be a strong human need that motivates humans to interact and form basic relationship with others. It is an important need because human being are social animals and they like to be around other people, build attachment, relationship and network. it is a desire to build relationship based on corporation and mutual understanding.
Answer 3) Norman triplett is a social psychologist who has given the concept of social facilitation. It states that human behave differently when in presence of others. He has studied race time of a cyclist, where he found that when a cyclist ride alone he is much faster then when he was riding alone. This gives releases competetive energy in humans which drives them to behave differently from when they are alone. This can be explained with help of drive theory where, presence of others create increased physiological arousal and therefore increasing automated response.
Social disruption/inhibition is just the opposite to social facilitation. Here, presence of others disrupts the behaviour of the individual i.e, decreased individual task performance.
Answer 4)A group is a social unit consists of two or more people who shares equal status and has a norm and rules to follow. Example: A political party group
