Question

Which of the following statements is false?

Question 46 options:

a)

Electromyography (EMG) measures electrical activity produced by skeletal muscles

b)

EMG measures the voltage between two points

c)

EMG can be used to determine when a participant first initiates muscle activity to engage in a motor response

d)

EMG can only detect movements that are visible

Which of the following statements is true about 5-reductase deficiency

A)

XY individuals are born with ambiguous genitalia because of a lack of dihydrotestosterone

B)

The individuals are often reared as females, but masculinization occurs during puberty

C)

XY individuals lack receptors for androgens and develop as females

D)

A and B only

E)

A and C only

Which of the following statements is true about transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS)?

A)

TMS is a noninvasive method that causes depolarization or hyperpolarization in neurons near the scalp

B)

This method is considered psychophysiological because the independent variable is physiological, rather than the dependent

C)

A coil of wire is placed just above the participant’s scalp and when electricity flows through the coil, it produces a magnetic field

D)

When the magnetic field is rapidly turned on and off, a current is induced in the neurons, leading to depolarization or hyperpolarization, depending on the number of magnetic field pulses

E)

TMS is able to explore neural plasticity, which is the ability of connections between neurons to change

F)

A,C,D,E only

G)

A,B, C only

Which of the following statements is true about fMRI?

a)

fMRI measures blood volume and blood flow, and from this we infer neural activity

b)

fMRI data typically have poor temporal  resolution

c)

fMRI does not measure neural activity directly

d)

Temporal resolution for fMRI is typically on the order of seconds, whereas its spatial resolution is on the order of millimeters

Which of the following statements is true about fMRI?

Question 64 options:

a)

fMRI measures blood volume and blood flow, and from this we infer neural activity

b)

fMRI data typically have poor temporal  resolution

c)

fMRI does not measure neural activity directly

d)

Temporal resolution for fMRI is typically on the order of seconds, whereas its spatial resolution is on the order of millimeters

Explanation / Answer

Ans 46 : D) EMG can only detect movements that are visible

EMG can give robust signals to the slightest of the movements of the muscle. If the muscle is healthy and not in contraction mode , EMG cannot detect. But it can also detect the activities beneath the skin , which are even invisible to the naked eye.
