Question
15. From the research completed, who would be expected to have a higher subjective well-being. A 35 year old white female, Jennifer, lives in Florida and divorced several years ago from her husband. She has a four year old son Jonathan from this marriage. She has since started dating someone for the past year. She attends catholic services each week with both her and her boyfriend. She is a licensed psychologist with a Ph.D. and is a registered Republican. Many people would describe her as beautiful. A 45 year old black male, Tyrus, is 6'0 and lives in Maryland. He is married to his wife for thirteen years and has two children. One of his children has recently been diagnosed as having cancer. Despite this illness, he has come to know a great support system beyond his close friends and family. He owns his own business which is a car repair shop. He goes running each morning with the local running club. Be sure to include information about top down and bottom up theories to help support your answerExplanation / Answer
Well, both can be expected to have subjective well being.
Like in case 1, the woman was divorced, she handled the situation emotionally well and took care of the child she had from that marriage. Also, she is living a good quality of life having a job of psychologist and is a registered Republican. As the people first would perceive from her way of living, bottom down theory fits well as people just process the information they have as the way they are coming in without knowing the acting thing or reason behind it.
Whereas in case 2, one of the children of Tauras has been diagnosed from cancer, despite that he goes running each morning and owns his own business which is quite a strong way in which he is dealing with his emotional and physical health. Here also, bottom-up theory fits in well. So, he also has good subjective well being.
When it comes to comparison between, my answer would be case 2 as it shows how the person is dealing with the situation in the best manner possible and doing things which makes his emotional health better.
