The manager received positive feedback and also redirecting or constructive feedback. The manager just left this discussion from their leader's office. I walk in to the office for my performance review. The manager seems irritated and distracted. I propose this example involves a lack of emotional intelligence and time management. I propose the way to mitigate or avoid this is for the manager to reschedule my feedback discussion. This could be for just an hour, or a day, to allow the manager to refocus on my feedback and on my needs. What else could the manager do?

The manager can take some time off and reflect upon himself.He can identify areas where he needs to improve himself either in work or basic social skills. He needs to understand the causes of his irritation and maybe discuss it with his boss before providing feedback to anyone else. He needs to improve his empathetic skills by becoming self aware,setting realistic goals for onself and dont judge others easily. He needs to practice deep and focused listening when communicating with another employee. Summarizing and feedback about what he thinks heheard the individual say to you. Ask questions to identify emotions and feelings. Practice noticing body language or nonverbal communication. Making schedules,setting boundaries and organizing work and meetings in advance would help too.
