Based on the scenario described and analysis provided below, what cause of the problem should you focus on first? Justify your answer.

A Lean Six Sigma project team is working to improve student attendance at schools in their community. Data were collected regarding the reasons that young students often report for refusing to go to school. These data are depicted in the Pareto chart below.

Based on the pareto chart, the cause with highest number of occurrences is School work not interesting, following by Shy, New to neighborhood and depressed in that order. These are the areas of most serious concern, that need to be address to address the overall problem. These causes together contribute to more than 80% of the problem. Once these causes are addressed in that priority, the problem will be almost eliminated.
