Schizophrenia can be defined as a disorder of the mind/brain where in the individual loses their touch with reality. It is also called as splitting of the mind.
Depression cancbe defined as a mood disorder characterised by flat or low mood that interferes with the person 's daily living functioning.
One of the compelling evidence that shows that schizophrenia and depression are the disorders of the brain is that the level of dopamine is increased in case of schizophrenia patients while that of depression patients is reduced beyond the normal levels.
The treatment that feels most hopeful is pharmacological treatment. It directly works on the dopamine receptors and thus increases and decreased their levels respectively. Thus physiologically changes are quickly seen as the pharmacological treatment is biological in nature.
