Explanation / Answer

Ecological System theory is thought to be a comprehensive system theory that gauges well the various subsets within the environment of an individual and proceeds on to gauge well how the intercourse between a given individual and the varying subsets lead to the development of a persons characteristics and formation of behavior components.

Within this theory there are four classifications of strata that have been created within the environment within which we play a role and from the interaction of which we learn certain behavior. This theory is of great value as it helps gauge and understand the working and functioning of an individual at a community level.

The Five systems are: Micro, Meso, Exo, Macro,and Chrono.  

Micro deals with the immediate community which would be the family, neighborhood, and ones social circle. The Meso includes the next sphere wherein there persists interaction betwixt the microsystems. The Exo represents the context wherein the individual involved may not be actively involved in the setting, but passively and will be affected by the setting. For instance, divorce between the parents, frustrating job of parents and/or spouse. This is bound to have an impact on the individuals routine functionality. The next domain is Macro, this is dominated by the cultural connotations that surround the individual. For example the race, culture, socio economic status so on and so forth.

The last sphere is the Chrono, the transitional period in ones lifetime, like the battling of a disease of great magnitude or the like. Or experiencing heart ache or divorce.

Lev Vygotsky helped develop this theory further and added trajectories within the developmental aspect of an individual.
