Explanation / Answer
The TED talk by Alex Laskey has discussed the behavioral model for the energy crisis on the earth with the use of coal and other non-renewable sources for the production of energy. The environmental effects can be studied with behavioral psychology and social cognition theory for understanding the global warming which is depleting the ozone layer in the atmosphere. This has led to an increase in the global temperatures. The statistical analysis has been done using the VIP model for understanding the behavioral psychology of the environmental issues and threats to the climate all over the world. This includes the pictures taken by the NASA scientists depicting the decrease in the ozone layer over the earth leading to the entry of the harmful solar radiations entering the earth. This is the greenhouse effect.
VIP model (Value identity personal norms model)- This model includes the self-identity of a person in realizing the environmental problems and their health hazards in the society. The aim of the study is to make the city clean of pollution and health hazards by conducting the survey in the society from netherlands, italy and spain. The survey was conducted on males and females employees in the municipality involved in the work for cleaning the society.
The energy usage questions, recycling of the waste materials and their usage, with energy efficiency and less pollution in the environment was correlated with the positive and negative behavior towards solving the problem scientifically with the energy consumption in the household in terms of joules of energy and work done. The mean ,standard deviation and median was calculated with correlation coefficients among the data parameters involved in the group of the data available. The standard deviation value and the energy consumption values were calculated with the following parameters like the number of hours the light is used in the household x the number of the megajoules of energy like 1.44 Megajoules. The values were used in the scaling from 1-7 based on the answers. There were then used for testing the significance hypothesis, F-test and the matrix method, sum of the squares and the standard deviation with normal distribution and calculation of the alpha and the beta values for analyzing the results and parameters.
