- Emotional labor refers to the process of managing one’s feelings and it’s expression in order to fulfill the specific requirements of a job. Some type of jobs require workers to regulate their emotions during interactions with customers, co-workers and superiors. Working as a psychologist has required me to exert emotional labour almost regularly, as our interaction with clients has to take place under a strict code of conduct.
- A major source of stress for me has been managing my finances. It is a huge personal struggle for me to spend my money wisely. The stress becomes apparent when I feel anxious, experience headaches and am not able to sleep uninterruptedly. For me, a method that helps me reduce my stress is discussing my problems with people around me, not simply for their guidance, but because sharing one’s worries seems to reduce its perceived magnanimity.
