Question
The text raises excellent questions about ethical issues related to using technology in genetics, such as. If you could select three genetic traits for your children, which ones would you select? How would you feel about raising children you have adopted or fostered but to whom you are not genetically related? If a biological child of yours might be born disabled or fatally ill because of your genetic heritage, would you have children anyway? What circumstances or conditions would affect your decision? You need to provide a minimum of three pages.

Note: This response is in UK English, please paste the response to MS Word and you should be able to spot discrepancies easily. Also, this question is entirely based on your own choices, decisions and personal response. Your teacher has asked you what kind of a parent you would be if you had a differently-abled child. I simply cannot answer that for you. I have merely provided direction to the answer by choosing three genetic traits and explaining them for your understanding. You will have to answer everything else yourself. It is like the teacher has asked you, “what is your favourite fruit?” I cannot answer that for you but I can only help with giving you a list of fruits to choose from. I recommend that you base the response on ethical child-rearing practices and not mere theory.
(Answer) Observable genetic traits in human beings are known as a “phenotype.” This phenotype is determined by something known as a “genotype.” These external traits are completely dependent on genetics. Genetics are hereditary and rarely influenced by the external environment.
External issues that influence genetics are usually things like radiation and even the displacement of water in the mother’s womb and cells caused by a lunar or solar eclipse. These external issues are usually not of a positive nature. The only external genetic influences that are of a positive nature are the evolutionary traits that usually take a few millennia to manifest.
This paper is about genetic traits that are from within a family’s genetic line. For instance straight hair like the grandmother, blue eyes like the father etc. Let us assume that one could pick three genetic traits for their own child. I would pick:
