I totally agree with Jefferies ideas of having the buildings designed in a way that reduces the crime rate. If enough of obstacles are there in the way of criminals, it acts as a deterrent to them to indulge in criminal activities. For example, if the building is high and there are less entry and exit points then the thieves will not try to break in. Definitely each room of the building and each floor must be thoroughly examined and must be checked in terms of approachability. There may be times when the building is designed in such a manner that it invites break ins. This should be checked and cameras must be properly installed so that they cover most areas under their vigilance.
Crime rate near mall areas may be curtailed, if proper police patrolling is done on a regular basis.
Therefore, it may be concluded that reduction in crime rate will happen if the building is designed in a manner which does not allow people to enter and exit easily.
