The average process capacity la Previous pageExplanation / Answer
To be calculated:
Average process capacity
Given values:
- Type-1 customers - A-B-C-D-H process route
- Type-2 customers - A-B-E-F-G-H process route
- Service time of each steps in the process route
- Total working hours in a day = 4 hours = 240 minutes
- Number of type-1 customers = 56%
- Number of type-2 customers = 44%
Solution:
(a) Total service time taken by type-1 customers is;
Process Route = A-B-C-D-H
Total Service time = (7 + 8 + 12.7 + 20.2 + 10) minutes per customer
Total Service time = 57.9 minutes per customer
(b) Total service time taken by type-2 customers is;
Process Route = A-B-E-F-G-H
Total Service time = (7 + 8 + 17.6 + 15.3 + 22.9 + 10) minutes per customer
Total Service time = 80.8 minutes per customer
Average service time taken by type-1 and type-2 customers is;
Average service time = (Percentage of type-1 customers x service time) + (Percentage of type-2 customers x service time)
Average service time = (56% x 57.9) + (44% x 80.8)
Average service time = (32.42) + (35.55)
Average service time = 67.97 minutes per customer
The average process capacity is calculated as;
Average process capacity = Total working hours in a day / Average service time
Average process capacity = 240 / 67.97
Average process capacity = 3.53 customers per day
