Question
This is long but please help!
At time t=5, the acceleration of a particle is i + k, the unit tangent is < 1/root2, 0, -1/root2>, and the curvature is 4.
a) Find the tangential component of acceleration
b) Find the normal component of acceleration
c) Find the binormal component of acceleration
d) Find the speed
e) Find the velocity
Explanation / Answer
a)tangential component = (1,0,1).(1/root2 ,0,-1/root2) = 0=>the acceleration is perpendicular to the tangent
b) normal component is i+k;
c)binormal component is cross product of T and N as tangential compnent is zero i.e T=0 therefore binormal component is alos zero
d)speed = at = |5i+5k|=5*1.414 =7.07
e.tangential acceleration = 0 =v^2/r=>vt =0;
normal acceleration = 5i+5k;
