I dont have the numbers but what can I do on minitab to to analyze this ?

You are being considered for an intern position this summer by The Mouse Factory, a company that manufactures USB optical mice. There is an opening in Quality Engineering and the company is seeking a student with a working knowledge of statistical data analysis and the Minitab software package. Your interview went well. At the end of the interview, you receive a sheet containing 175 measurements of injection molded cover hole outer diameters. The interviewer explains that hole diameter is a critical measurement and asks you to analyze the data using Minitab and to report your findings in the morning The Minitab Worksheet you received is on eCampus in the homework folder.

Explanation / Answer

For the given problem our main focus is on hole diameter

Hence we can find out the confidence intervals at z=1.96 at 95 % confidence

In minitab

Choose stats then basic statistics then 1 sample t test

then choose samples in column to choose the data set

then if we want to change the confidence interval we choose options to set it to desired confidence level

Then after clicking ok it gives us the statistics which are of importance to the given problem at hand

they are

Sample mean , standard deviation, standard error of the mean and the 95% confidence interval

We can use the confidence interval for checking if our data points of the 175 measurements are within the confidence interval and we report any abnormalities in the data points which do not comply with the confidence interval to the interviewer
