Question

Please help me write a business report.

Business Topic and specific requirements:

You have recently been hired as Manager of Human Resources for a company employing 100 people.

Your boss, Robert J. Doris, is considering a new idea for the company. He has assigned you to explore the idea of offering child-are within the building to the employees.

Your report will be submitted in memo format.

The body of your memo is organized in five main parts:

*Introduction : Introduce the purpose of your report memo, including the method of data collection and a preview of the organization of the contents of the report.

*Pro’s:   In this section, you will outline the pros of the concept.

*Con’s:   The cons will be outlined.

*Conclusions:   After reviewing the entirety of your research on the concept of   “providing child-care in the building,” what conclusions have you arrived at?

*Recommendations:   Based on your conclusions, submit a number of recommendations.

*APA documentation of your sources: Your last page needs to be your documentation of your sources according to APA style.

There is a difference between conclusions and recommendations.

Your conclusions are what you learned in a general way through your research.

Your recommendations are more specific. You take your conclusions, what you learned, and turn them into a specific recommendation. How can this recommendation be implemented specifically for the best outcome.

However, DO NOT have only have a bulleted list for each section. If you choose to use bullets, you need to have an explanation for each one. Do not just list the main idea. You need to support each pro, each con, and each recommendation with detail. For example, if you give a recommendation, you may want to include how it could be implemented effectively.

Subject: Pros and Cons of child Care at Work place

Dear Mr. Robert J. Doris,

Hope you are fine and cheerful. Greetings!

As the company is keen to provide the best possible employee services to keep the workers happy and satisfied, the company’s initiative of allocating a budget to start a benefits scheme is laudable. The allocated fund may be utilized to develop a useful service to the current employees (employee strength almost reaching 100 now). Establishing a day care service for the children of employees would be a relevant support to them.

Since we are having many youngsters working in our organization and many of them are parents of very young children, providing a child care facility can have a positive effect on our employees. There are many benefits expected from this service such as improvement in employee morale, reducing turnover, improving productivity, etc. Though the service can incur direct costs to the company, it can save the hidden costs such as absenteeism, turnover, low productivity, etc. We may have a program called ‘bring the baby to work and leave the baby for care’.

Workplace day care can be a relief to the parents as they can rid themselves of unnecessary anxiety and worry. The parents can visit their children during their breaks and spend more time with them. The breast feeding mothers can attend to their babies without hassle and trouble. When this facility is established, parents can spend more time with their children while traveling to and from job, and also during the breaks.

The day care can have positive effects on the organization too, such as lower incidence of absenteeism; lower labor turnover, increased productivity, reduction in maternity leaves, etc. The cost of recruiting and training a new employee can be saved as the number employees leaving due to family reasons is reduced.

Running an on-site day care facility at work place is a costly affair and may end up in loss if the facility is underutilized. Also, if the parents overuse the facility the costs may increase.

Before we decide on the project we may have to conduct a survey to find out how many parents are willing to use the facility and what will be their pattern of usage. Meanwhile, we may have to explore the services and costs with day care service providers and obtain their best quote. Before making the proposal a formal service, a comprehensive policy of use must be developed and all the options of employee care must be examined.

I am looking forward to your response on this proposal and I have begun the preparation to gather relevant data on this project. I will be available for a meeting with you in one days notice.

Wishing you a good day!

Warm regards,

Mark Jude
